Staff members and management at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, MN, have changed the way they do business to better accomodate the increasingly diverse patient population in the area, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune.

The hospital's kitchen now cooks traditional Hmong items for the growing Hmong patient population, for example. Staff members can attend classes about the Southeast Asian culture, and the hospital consults with shamans and clan leaders about the best way to treat Hmong patients.

The goal is to increase trust and the efficiacy of treatment of all the patients that visit the 100-year old hospital, according to the article.
