Joint Commission accreditation predictor of patient safety implementation

Accreditation by The Joint Commission can be viewed as a "key predictor" of better patient safety implementation at a hospital, according to a report in the May/June Journal of Healthcare Management.

The executive summary credited the National Patient Safety Goals as a major factor in improving patient safety implementation in hospitals. The availablity of patient safety data was another factor, according to the summary.
