Small changes with little expense can help improve patient safety in hospitals, according to a Baltimore Examiner article.

The article mentions Johns Hopkins Medicine, which experienced a decrease in hospital-acquired infections after following the advice of staff and buying more mops. More mops meant it was easier to keep floors properly cleaned. It also increased patient and staff satisfaction.

Other changes, such as proper hand hygiene among staff, are harder to implement but play a big role in infection control and patient safety.
