PA governor's health program targets hospital infection rate

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell has announced his plan to make healthcare available to more residents of his state. This comes when about 10.5 %, which translates to 1.3 million, of Pennsylvania's residents are uninsured.

This plan has not been drafted yet. In his official proposal expected next month, Rendell hopes to cut costs in certain areas of the healthcare system, including reducing the number of infections patients acquire while they are visiting a hospital. The plan also would give nurse practitioners more responsibility.
