A new study shows that patients often have negative experiences when sharing in the decision-making process. The small sample study was published in The Annals of Family Medicine.

The study followed 125 decisions made in the cases of 18 patients. Of those, 62 involved shared decision making. According to the study, patients considered 56% of the experiences as negative.

The researchers also concluded that 40% of patients were not fully involved in the shared decisions.
