The Ontario Hospital Association has started a public information campaign aimed at helping patients become informed participants in their care. The program was announced by press release on September 13.

The campaign hits many themes advocated by U.S. patient safety organizations, including:

  • Ask questions and speaking up about your care.
  • Tell care providers about past illnesses
  • Take all your medications with you when you go to the hospital
  • Inform caregivers about possible allergies
  • Be sure you understand what you need to do once released from the hospital or from your appointment
