Three Missouri healthcare groups have formed a patient safety center for the state, according to the Kansas City Star.

The new Missouri Center for Patient Safety, based in Columbia, will act as a repository for patient safety data, develop patient safety standards, and provide education for both patients and healthcare professionals.

The center is a joint project of the Missouri State Medical Association, the Missouri Hospital Association, and Primaris.

The organizations hope to have staff in place this year.
