All the bells and whistles are going into the new Banner Estrella Medical Center on the west side of Phoenix. A total of $175 million worth of high-tech designs and details will enhance patient safety, including electronic medical records systems and digital prescription systems, officials say.

Patient comfort will play a major role as well. Patients at Banner Estrella may seem more like hotel guests with room service, premium movies, and sofa beds so relatives can spend the night with their loved ones. In addition, patients can choose the color of their rooms, and select artwork for the walls.

While Banner Estrella isn't open for business just yet, the news of the hospital has been so overwhelmingly positive that it's set off a wave of construction with new medical offices in the area.
