The New Jersey Senate passed a bill March 29 requiring doctors and hospitals to report medical errors to the state, a move that some lawmakers believe could have stopped a nurse who allegedly killed up to 40 patients in
The Patient Safety Act also requires medical centers to develop systems to avoid making these mistakes in the future. The bill now awaits approval by Gov. James E. McGreevey.
