Joseph L. Cappiello has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) of the Chicago-based Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). HFAP, the nation's oldest hospital accreditation organization, has been authorized by CMS to accredit healthcare facilities for compliance with CMS standards since the advent of Medicare in 1965.
