Dartmouth College has launched a new, 18-month master's degree program to teach safety, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency in medicine, reports The Boston Globe.

The "interdisciplinary master of healthcare delivery science program" will launch next summer and is intended for mid-career professionals such as hospital administrators, healthcare consultants, and medical educators. The program is one of the first initiatives of the new Dartmouth Center for Health Care Delivery Science, which was started in May with a $35 million anonymous donation to the university.

The curriculum will include courses in healthcare finance, operations management, policy, and patient-centered care, according to the Globe.
