No, there is not one standard definition, but there is a wealth of reference material that can be used to help your institution define falls. During my literature research, I discovered information on The Joint Commission’s Web site, which led me to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Veterans Affairs, and the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS).
