A safe process that is so difficult to use that it never gets followed isn’t really safe. Why? Simply because we don’t do it.

Similarly, safe processes that are easy to use but waste a significant amount of resources, supplies, or money will put the hospital into bankruptcy. Then we don’t get the chance to use the pro¬cesses with our patients.

How do we look at our processes and make them more efficient and easier to use?
