Link between patient satisfaction, intensity of care discussed

Patients wanting to compare hospitals have a new outlet to do so: the same place where one might go to compare different computer brands. Yes, Consumer Reports has added a section to its health Web site that pulls content from the Hospital Compare Web site's patient satisfaction rankings, as well as Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care intensity index, reports The Boston Globe. Consumer Reports then ranks hospitals based on how satisfied patients were with care at individual facilities and ranks intensity of care on a scale from 1 to 100 (with 1 being most aggressive care and 100 being most conservative care).
Consumer Reports has found that more aggressive care does not always lead to more satisfied patients. Patients receiving conservative care often reported being satisfied.
