Q. Is there a CMS or Joint Commission standard that forces a hospital to screen and treat each patient in the hospital for short-term deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis? We do it for all of our Surgical Care Improvement Project patients, but is it a requirement for all patients admitted to the hospital? What should we be doing in this case?
