UK: Chemical added to water proves deadly threat to kidney patients

A chemical added to a Leicester hospital's water supplies in order to kill bacteria that causes legionnaire's disease put kidney dialysis patients in danger, reports the Daily Mail.

Though dialysis machines have filters that usually remove such chemicals, Leicester General Hospital's machines failed to filter properly, causing one death and six other patients to fall ill. The chemical, hydrogen peroxide with particles of silver, are used to clean bacteria, reports the Daily Mail.
