Europe data system pilot launched

Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, October 14, 2008

The European Patient Smart Open Services (epSOS), a large-scale pilot electronic health system involving 12 European Union countries has launched, according to Healthcare IT News.

European countries currently have systems for storing healthcare information, but these systems are often incompatible with other countries' systems, making interoperability near to impossible. The goal of the pilot is to improve patient safety for traveling patients, reports Healthcare IT News.
