Poor nutritional care linked to deaths in Britain hospitals

Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, August 5, 2008

The National Health Service (NHS) has reported the amount of incidents in which patients were put at risk due to poor nutrition in hospitals from 2005 to 2007 has almost doubled, according to the Telegraph.

Reports reveal more than 29,000 serious incidents occurred in England over the past year. A National Patient Safety Agency spokesperson said the reports reveal a rise in better reporting of near-misses and large regional variances.
