NHS mental ward patients suffer high level of violence

"Unacceptable" levels of violence were found in England's National Health Services' (NHS) mental illness wards, after an investigation by the government's Healthcare Commission, reports the Independent.
Seven to 15% of patients reported being physically assaulted, according to the investigation, which included a review of all mental health trusts in England—69 in all. According to the Independent, the figures come despite increased spending of £1.2 billion since 2002.
