The governor of Minnesota is introducing personal health records (PHR) to all state employees by as early as 2009, reports the Star Tribune. Gov. Tim Pawlenty said his ultimate goal is to roll out personal health records to all Minnesotans by 2011.
This move is part of Pawlenty's overall health plan. Previously, Pawlenty introduced a Web site that residents of the state can use to price shop prescriptions, and he has created nursing home report cards, and tied medical payments to outcomes. Using PHRs would lower healthcare costs and help patients make more informed medical decisions, the article says.
