Staff members, physicians, and patients had their say in the design of the new SSM St. Clare Health Center in Kirkwood, MO scheduled to open next spring, reports The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The new facility will have both building design as well as clinical procedures created by the staff. Features will include "patient experience zones" connected by a central area. The zones--emergency, outpatient services, inpatient care and surgical/specialty services--will all have separate parking and entrances. It will also have accommodations for family members to stay overnight. Staff design will also change the medical dispensing system, which will save nurses a mile's worth of walking daily and lead to more time with patients.
