Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said that improving the U.S.' healthcare system is one of the biggest challenges facing the country today, reports The Boston Globe. Bernanke commented on the nation's healthcare situation on June 16. Bernanke did not offer any specific solutions; policymakers will be left with this difficult burden, he said. Currently, the cost of healthcare is the single biggest item that Americans pay for, and by 2050 paying for healthcare will make up 50% of spending.
