UK: Prescribing errors blamed on physician training

An Edinburgh University study revealed that almost 75% of junior doctors believed their drug prescription training was inadequate, reports the Times (London). Doctors said they were putting patients at risk.

Physicians also said they were rarely tested on the subject and only a third said they filled a prescription chart more than three times during their training, according to the Times. The survey polled 2,400 physicians. In the UK, medication errors have risen fivefold in the past 10 years.
