Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority releases annual report, undertakes 11 new initiatives

The Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority released its 2007 annual report this week, outlining 11 new initiatives aimed at improving the quality of patient care.
The programs, which will be implemented over several years, will focus on range of topics that include educating boards about quality, reducing infections, and improving data collaboration. The agency also plans to create a patient safety liaison pilot program that will offer healthcare facilities on-site education or quality improvement assistance from the Patient Safety Authority.
“Many patient safety officers have asked for more of a presence from the Patient Safety Authority to help them implement patient safety initiatives,” Mike Doering, the authority’s executive director, said in a press release. To read the release, click here.
