European Commission wants action against medical errors

Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, April 15, 2008

The European Commission is beginning an initiative to help European Union (EU) member states prevent medical errors, both in and outside of the hospital setting, according to the European Report.

According to the Commission, errors involving medication occur in 10% of hospital admissions. The Commission has urged EU members to share information regarding such adverse events.
