The Center for Health Policy and Professionalism Research at Indiana University's School of Medicine has released a study saying that 59% of physicians support the idea of national health insurance, says The Washington Post. This is up from 49% in 2002. These findings were published in the March 31 Annals of Internal Medicine. The strongest support for universal coverage came from psychiatrists and pediatric subspecialists.
Approximately 47 million Americans remain uninsured, and an additional 50 million Americans are thought to be underinsured.
