14,000 patients rejected in Japan

Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, March 18, 2008

In Japan, more than 14,000 patients were rejected by hospitals three times before receiving treatment, reports USA Today.

A 2007 government survey found that patients were rejected because of lack of facilities and doctors. The cities of Tokyo and Osaka had the highest rejection rates. One woman suffering from breathing problems was rejected 49 times, reports USA Today.
