Figures show adverse drug reactions lead to thousands of deaths

In the past three years, nearly 3,000 U.K. citizens have died after taking medications, reports The Times (London).

Adverse drug reactions have risen 45% over the past decade in the U.K., a figure some experts say is the result of growing numbers of patients taking aspirin and heart disease medication, reports The Times. Other drugs most commonly blamed for an adverse reaction are anticoagulation drugs, diuretics, and anti-inflammatory drugs. The most common medical problem association with medications is gastrointestinal bleeding.
