Excessive noise in the OR poses short-term and long-term risk to surgical staff

Step inside the OR and there’s a good chance you’ll get bombarded with noise -- door alarms, heart monitors, surgical equipment, and '80s hair bands. And that can lead to miscommunication in critical moments and, subsequently, medical mistakes, putting both patients and surgical staff at risk. Plus, research suggests that too much exposure to excessive noise in the OR could lead to long-term health risks for surgical staff, too.
