Worker wellness: Chemical hazards an everyday danger in healthcare

Healthcare workers are exposed to numerous hazards in the process of doing their jobs every single day. Workplace violence, needlesticks, bloodborne pathogens, and ergonomic hazards are just a few of the things that they deal with every time they walk into the door of their workplace.

Let’s add to that substances that they use on a daily basis, whether it’s helpful, yet potentially harmful chemicals used to treat cancer patients, cleaning fluids used to sanitize the workspace, or even something as simple as hand soap used to help keep their hands clean as they go from patient to patient.
