AMA releases MACRA tools for physicians
Physician Practice Insider, October 18, 2016
The American Medical Association (AMA) released a tool that aims to help physicians take steps to improve their practices in preparation for MACRA and calculate reimbursement under the new payment systems such as MIPS. The resources include a set of modules that focus on topics such as implementing team-based care, quality reporting, value-based care, documentation of best practices, and choosing an EHR.
Changes mandated by MACRA may present challenges for physician practices. CMS’ announcement last month of a pick-your-pace system for the first year of MACRA will allow physicians to ease into the system and have a better chance of being successful, the AMA said. Physician practices should take advantage of the first year of MACRA to prepare for the roll out of the full, mandatory programs that come into effect in 2018.
