Measuring the positive effect of designation
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 6, 2007
Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) in Macon, GA, achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) designation in 2006. Since it received the nursing excellence award, MCCG has noted an encouraging change in a number of key statistics. Meryl Montomgery, RN, MSN, MRP director, shares the following statistical changes MCCG has noticed pre- and post-designation:
- RN turnover rates fell from nearly 20% to roughly 9% to 12%
- RN vacancy rates fell from 26% to 12%
- Patient satisfaction scores in all nursing satisfaction areas have risen from 91.5% to 94%
- National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators nursing satisfaction scores went from 15% to 25%, which is higher than the national average in 18 dimensions
