First healthcare organization in Louisville achieves designation

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, October 30, 2007

Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, KY, recently achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation--the only facility in Louisville to receive the nursing excellence award. Kosair--a 263-bed facility that has been on the journey toward designation for the past three years--submitted its written documentation in March and earned a site visit in August. Doug Eighmey, president, attributes the hospital's designation to the passion and hard work of staff nurses, and the caring attitude they display toward patients and their families. Kosair is the only facility in Kentucky offering a pediatric trauma center, and it also serves as the pediatric teaching facility for the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
