HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, October 30, 2007
When researching evidence-based practice articles, all healthcare consumers should know about the DISCERN Instrument (www.discern.org.uk). This standardized instrument helps evaluate the reliability and quality of consumer health information. It consists of 15 questions, plus an overall quality rating that helps you become involved in a shared decision-making process about treatment choices. Using this instrument, you can determine whether the information reviewed is based on good evidence and whether it should be used or discarded.
