With the goal of increasing the number of nurses in the state, an Oklahoma school will be offering two new nursing degrees.

After receiving approval from the State Regents for Higher Education, the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City will now offer an online master's degree in nursing and a doctor of philosophy degree in nursing. The programs aim to qualify more nurses as faculty members at nursing colleges.

The increased number of faculty members is expected to aid in the nursing shortage. Last year, an Oklahoma task group found a 15% gap in the number of faculty members needed for teaching positions.
