Aiming to amplify the current workforce, a Tennessee-based health alliance is expanding its nursing student scholarship program.

The Mountain States Health Alliance will be distributing the scholarships to eligible students. To qualify, students must commit to working at an alliance facility for a certain period of time (depending on the amount of the scholarship). Students will begin receiving full or partial scholarships this year for two- or four-year nursing programs at Tennessee and Virginia schools.

The scholarship program will be promoted at nursing schools throughout the region. In an additional effort to curb the nursing shortage, the alliance plans to publicize the scholarships to experienced nurses enrolled in nursing education programs. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
