Sharing NDNQI results in a collegial setting
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, August 21, 2007
The CNO at North Carolina's Durham Regional Hospital in North Carolina-currently pursuing ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) designation-shared the organization's National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) RN satisfaction survey results with nursing council members, managers, and directors during an evening meeting complete with food, says Audrey T. Neal, RN, CN IV, MRP coordinator. During the meeting, each service line heard their unit results and was given an allotted time to develop an action plan on how to improve the top three areas that needed work. Each service line used the DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) model to create the plan. At the end of the meeting, each service line shared with everyone else their top three areas for improvement and their action plans. "The expectation was for the information to be taken back to units and be shared with the rest of the staff for their input," says Neal. According to Neal, a follow-up meeting is scheduled this month for everyone to report their progress.
