Raise designation excitement

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, August 14, 2007

Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center in West Islip, NY-an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) recipient in 2006-used the following three methods as educational vehicles to keep staff nurses excited about pursuing designation:

  1. Bulletin boards: All units created MRP bulletin boards where stories demonstrating the 14 Forces of Magnetism were displayed
  2. Games: The hospital created a crossword puzzle that contained key words related to MRP designation and staff nurses submitted their answers to the project director to enter into a lottery for prizes
  3. Each unit created a CD of songs that represented their journey to designation. One song found on each unit's CD was "We are the Champions" by Queen.
