With the goal of improving patient care and hospital efficiency, a new Arizona hospital plans to bring in evidence-based, patient-friendly design elements and cutting-edge technology.

Banner Health, based in Phoenix, AZ, will soon be unveiling a $207 million hospital containing elements aimed at a quiet atmosphere, such as sound-absorbing ceiling tiles.

The hospital will reportedly be the first in the region to use a fully-integrated electronic health records (EHR) system. Additionally, nurses will receive individual voice-activated communication badges to limit overhead announcements. Operating rooms will include ceiling-mounted equipment to increase efficiency and safety, as well as high-tech imaging equipment and high-definition video systems for use during surgical procedures.
