Ordering room service from the bedside
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 24, 2007
Patients at Scottsdale Healthcare in Arizona can now use their television and its remote control to order food from room service without having to wait to speak with someone on the phone. Scottsdale Healthcare, the only organization in Arizona to be awarded ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation, teamed up with Computrition, Inc., and Skylight Healthcare Systems--companies that provide interactive patient solutions at the bedside--to allow its patients to order food with the touch of a button. From 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, patients can view meal choices on their in-room TV, and the menu displays calorie, fat, sodium, and carbohydrate counts for each food item as a way to teach patients about healthy food choices.
