Include redesignation information in monthly newsletters

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 24, 2007

To keep the journey alive as they prepare for ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) redesignation, June Marshall, RN, MS, CNAA,BC, director, center for nursing excellence at Medical City Hospital and Medical City Children's Hospital in Dallas, TX, provides MRP updates at all patient care leadership meetings. "I asked one of the advanced practice nurses (APNs) to attend the meeting and present the work the APN council is doing related to an evidence-based practice initiative," says Marshall. "I also write a '[Redesignation] Message' in the monthly newsletter that all staff nurses in the organization receive."

The CNE helps keep the journey alive by writing his own messages to staff nurses in the organizations' monthly newsletter. He also presents educational information about the 14 Forces of Magnetism to the medical staff and the hospital's board of trustees at their meetings, says Marshall.
