Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, WY, is making efforts to enhance its nursing work environment in an attempt to boost retention and recruitment.

The medical center has implemented a flexible scheduling system that lets employees select shifts that accommodate their outside obligations. Administrators are also looking into reducing the number of monthly on-call hours required of each nurse.

Additionally, the hospital has hired a nurse recruiter whose goal is to secure qualified nurses. This is the first time the facility has hired an employee specifically dedicated to the recruitment of nurses.
