Two South Dakota hospitals will train nurses and nurse managers on quality patient care as they participate in a national nursing study.
Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, and Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD, are two of 68 hospitals nationwide that will partake in the two-year Transforming Care at the Bedside project.
The project, funded by a $1 million grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will be executed by the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). As part of the project, nurses and nurse managers will be trained on new and better care techniques.
The project is designed to improve the quality and safety of patient care, to increase the vitality of nurses, and to improve the effectiveness of the entire care team, said the AONE in a statement.
