Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC) in Johnson City, TN, is one of 68 hospitals nationwide to have been chosen by the American Organization of Nurse Executives to share in a $1 million grant provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. An ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®-designated facility, JCMC will use the grant to participate in a two-year project titled "Transforming Care at the Bedside." The grant is designed to involve nurses in testing new ways to improve the quality and safety of patient care at the bedside, increase retention of nurses, enhance nurse manager leadership skills, and improve the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team. Other recipients of the grant include the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ, and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, which is also a Magnet Recognition Program® recipient.
