A designation kick-off
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 26, 2007
Whether preparing for ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation or redesignation, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) in Iowa City, IA, knows just the right way to get nurses excited about attaining the nursing excellence award. UIHC is a little more than eight months away from submitting its written documentation for redesignation, and recently celebrated the kick-off to the process by holding a crocodile rock for the department of nursing. It was a 12-hour croc-rock to remember, says Barbara Hannon, RN, MSN, CPHQ, Magnet Recognition Program® coordinator, and featured a room full of crock pots filled with food, inflatable crocodiles, crocodile chocolate candies for gifts, and lots more. Pamphlets on the 14 Forces of Magnetism were distributed and champions were present to talk about the Magnet Recognition Program® and why UIHC is seeking redesignation.
