St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA--an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® recipient in 2007--has been named one of 14 sites to participate in a three-year pilot study of the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Community Cancer Centers Program (NCCCP). The study will research new and enhanced ways to educate and assist underserved populations, including the elderly, rural, inner-city, low-income households, and ethnic groups that may have high cancer rates. St. Joseph's will contribute best practices to the NCI, while a group of NCI experts will monitor the progress, set goals, and evaluate the success of St. Joseph's pilot program.
