Recognizing certified nurses
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 19, 2007
At Baptist Hospital East in Louisville, KY, nurses who achieve certification are recognized with a dinner hosted by the nursing education and professional development shared governance council. "The council has hosted this event for the past two years," says Debbi Sorrels RN, MSN, ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® project coordinator. "It has been well-received and appreciated." The catered dinner is held at the hospital and any current certified nurses are invited. Sorrels says the event has helped the organization keep track of nurses who have achieved certification, "because nurses want to be invited so they are sure to forward their certified information."
