Gala raises money for nurse education and patient care
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, May 29, 2007
Genesis Health Services Foundation, located in Davenport, IA, recently raised $164,000 at a gala and will use the money to upgrade equipment and fund nurse education. The facility will use a large portion of the money to purchase new technology that includes a wireless fetal monitor, a critical care ventilator system, and two neuroprosthetic and rehabilitation systems. $50,000 of the funds raised will go toward supporting nurse education by providing educational scholarships to Genesis staff nurses and college students who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Genesis believes that providing nursing scholarships helps the facility create relationships between students pursing a nursing degree and the organization. Genesis Medical Center received ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation in 2005.
