Changes to our Stressed Out scene

Stressed Out Nurses Weekly, May 21, 2007

During the last six months or so, many of you have gotten to know Stressed Out Nurses. Maybe you're a regular visitor to the Web site, maybe you receive the weekly Ezine, or maybe you've stopped by the booth at one of the National Student Nurse Association (NSNA) shows. Maybe all three apply to you. Either way, we want you to know we're always growing, always changing, and always thinking of new ways to relieve your stress. Here are some of the changes-some you might have missed and some that are in the works.

First, we'll review a few items that you might have missed:

  • The Stressed Out Nurse cartoon has a name. Yup, it's Fran (short for Frantic). We had a contest and among the many entries, Sara Leikam of LaGrange (GA) College provided the most creative name. Why Frantic? Leikam told us she was going through her toughest semester of nursing school at the time, and that's how she was feeling. For her full story, click here.
  • We joined Facebook. Many of you, judging by the 450+ friends Fran has, already know this. We even started a group called Stressed Out Nurses that continues to grow in leaps and bounds. Want to be part of the community? Just hop on Facebook and type in "Stressed Out Nurses" in the search box. Our group will be the first one you see.
  • Fran premiered on YouTube. Nearly 500 people have checked this out during the past few weeks. The plot: It's Fran's first night without a preceptor and she's trying to do a million things at once. Then, the rest of her crazy life finds its way into her rant. Check it out here.
  • We launched a discussion board. Located at the top of our Web site, we've created a place where student nurses, new graduate nurses, and staff nurses can share their stresses about work, life, and everything under the sun. Get some advice about study habits, changing a shift, or the best place in the country to work. Go on; see what it's all about.
