A Massachusetts college is training healthcare providers with its new, high-tech resource center, which recently underwent a formal dedication.
The Nursing and Allied Health Resource Center Laboratories at Cape Cod Community College was completed last summer, with the help of Cape Cod Hospital. The center consists of a five-bed basic lab, a four-bed critical care lab, and a lab equipped with an examination table. Before this space was created, students studying nursing, medical assisting, phlebotomy, or electrocardiography all vied for one classroom.
The center is plans to soon expand by adding new technology; cameras, for example, are expected to be added in the critical care unit so that instructors can operate mannequins out of sight while monitoring the students' responses.
